'TOWN MEETINGS' SET TO BEGIN IN POTTER The Potter County Commissioners will hold a series of evening meetings in communities throughout the county in the coming weeks. "It's important that we have a clear understanding of the issues our constituents are facing," said the board chairman, Doug Morley. "More specifically, we need to get a better sense of the needs and the priorities of each of our communities." He and commissioners Susan Kefover and Paul Heimel will be at the Austin Area School on Monday, April 7, for the first town meeting, starting at 7 pm. Second meeting will be held at the Coudersport Area High School at 7 pm Tuesday, April 22. Similar meetings will be held in Galeton (May 1), Shinglehouse and Ulysses. Communication between county officials, community leaders and local citizens is especially important in this era of limited financial resources, the commissioners said in announcing the meeting schedule. "We are in a critical position to interact with regional, state and federal agencies to advocate for local community needs," Morley pointed out. Although the meetings are open to all, the commissioners are especially encouraging attendance by residents of the school district where each meeting is being held. |
