Kamper, Heimel named MVPs

Two athletes from Coudersport were repeat selections as Most Valuable Players of the Northern Tier High School Basketball League.
Kristy Kamper and Blair Heimel were chosen for the honor by league coaches after the Falcons swept the two league championships. Both Coudersport teams went on to win PIAA District 9 Class A championships.
Kamper, daughter of Jim and Ginny Kamper, averaged 19.7 points per game and finished her career with 1,346 points, the second most in school history.
Heimel, son of Paul and Lugene Heimel, scored at a clip of 19.1 points per game and led the league in rebounding with an average of 10.2 per game. He finished his career with 1,040 points.
Joining the two as Northern Tier League All-Stars were:
Boys: Derek Burdick and John Hau, Coudersport; Jordan Crane, Cameron County; Kal McCaslin, Northern Potter; Derick Morey, Port Allegany.
Girls: Jessica Wilson, Coudersport; Rayna Valenti and Whitney Crosby, Austin; Lauren Donovan, Oswayo Valley; and Brittany Rounds, Northern Potter.

Girls' Coach of the Year honors went to Brian Green of Coudersport. Boys' Coach of the Year award was shared by Chris Fink, Coudersport, and Lance Baker, Otto-Eldred.
NTL coaches also chose a second team with their all-star voting. Among those selections were Colton Corey and Karli Duffee, Coudersport; Dan Sullivan, Charlie Holjencin and Kristin Sestina, Cameron County.
Honorable mention went to Whitney Lewis, Cameron County; Kelly McVay and Kayla Bohn, Coudersport; Casey Boucher and Tim Cheplic, Austin.
