ASTRONOMY BASICS CLASS SCHEDULED

A basic astronomy workshop is being held by the Potter County Education Council and the Cherry Springs Dark Sky Fund starting on Wednesday.

From late spring through fall, Cherry Springs State Park provides public stargazing programs, but this course will go beyond just the stars in the sky. Theories on how the universe formed and what it is doing now, the planets, sun and moon will be discussed in four class sessions on consecutive Wednesday nights at the Coudersport office of the Education Council.

Cost for each class is $10, or $35 for all four sessions. The workshop will include two field trips to Cherry Springs for night sky observations.

Instructors are Stash Nawrocki, owner of Crystal Spheres; Adventures in Stargazing and a regular guest astronomer at Cherry Springs, and Maxine Harrison, director of the Cherry Springs Dark Sky Fund.
