SECOND TOWN MEETING SET BY COMMISSIONERS A standing-room-only turnout led to a successful and far-reaching dialogue during the first town meeting last week in Austin. Commissioners Doug Morley, Susan Kefover and Paul Heimel said the meetings are being held to improve communication between local citizens and the county's elected officials. "This is especially important in this era of limited financial resources," the commissioners said in announcing the series. "We need to get a better sense of the needs and the priorities of each of our communities. The commissioners are in a critical position to interact with regional, state and federal agencies to advocate for local community needs." Similar meetings will be held in Galeton (May 1), Shinglehouse and Ulysses. |
