Dominant Raiders continue course What could be one of the most successful seasons in Cameron County High School baseball history continues on course. Veteran coach Dick Harrier's Red Raiders pounded visiting Port Allegany, 12-1, Wednesday afternoon to improve to 6-0. They're headed to Smethport Friday afternoon, followed by a home game with Elk County Catholic on Monday and a visit to Coudersport next Friday for a make-up game. Darrick Mason's tape-measure grand slam home run in the bottom of the second inning gave the Raiders all the runs they would need against Port Allegany. Pitchers Jordan Crane and Garrett Hornung held the Gators to just four hits in a game shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule. Cameron County led 11- 0 entering the bottom of the fourth, when Port Allegany scored its lone run. Crane struck out eight batters in four innings of work. Hornung added a pair of strikeouts in his lone inning of work. Crane had two hits and a pair of RBI. Catcher David Lyon, arguably the region's hottest hitter, also drove in a pair. A solid Oswayo Valley team was little match for the Red Raiders Monday at Shinglehouse. Cory Smith handled mound duties in a 12-1, five-inning affair. Smith scattered four hits and walked two, striking out six batters. Cameron County took a 4-0 lead in the first and stretched it to 8-1 in the third. Lyon had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Sean McManigle also had three hits and four RBI. Reed and Darrick Mason each had two hits. |
