Raider, Falcon softball teams win
Coudersport's red-hot softball team ran into a couple of bumps in the road.
On Friday, Bradford pitcher Shelly Fuhrman kept the Falcon bats at bay as the Owls scored a 3-0 win. Megan Hau had both of Coudersport's hits. Pitcher Karli Duffee showed strong stuff, but had no offensive support.
Three nights later, Coudersport ran into another solid hurler, Smethport's Diana Phalon, and came out on the short end of a 4-2 score. Phalon recorded 15 strikeouts. Kayla Bohn had two hits for Coudersport. Duffee pitched a five-hit complete game.
The Falcons rebounded on Wednesday night for a 12-3 win at Cameron County, giving Coudersport a 5-2 record.
Hau pitched a three-hitter and did not issue a walk. She also had three hits, including a two-run double. Tigan Chiumento homered and singled. Kelly McVay cracked a triple and Mo McCusker and Serena Unser each doubled.
Whitney Lewis had an RBI single for the Red Raiders. Danika Grom handled mound duties.
Results of Thursday's game with Oswayo Valley weren't available by press time. The Falcons are scheduled to host Northern Potter Saturday at 11 am.
Raider softball team

Otto-Eldred visits Emporium on Saturday for a varsity softball game as the 2008 season reaches its midpoint. Cameron County has shown signs of promise and looks to rebound during the second half.
On Monday, coach Aaron Bowes' Red Raiders scored a 10-3 win at Austin, behind Tasha Smith's six-hit pitching with no walks.
Shelby Summers had two hits and four stolen bases for the Raiders. Sami Andrus also had two hits, including a double, while scoring two runs and driving in a pair. Alexis Narby added a double and two RBI.
Desi Lamer pitched a complete game and fanned seven for the Panthers.
Cameron County travels to Oswayo Valley on Monday, followed by another home game on Wednesday against Port Allegany.
