SIMCOE TO BE INDUCTED INTO SPORTS HALL

Coudersport High School football coach Paul Simcoe, who recently retired, will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Football Coaches Hall of Fame during ceremonies to be held at 10 am on June 13 in Hershey.

He leaves Coudersport as the alltime winningest football coach in PIAA District 9 history, compiling an overall record of 204-77-9 over 29 seasons. He previously served as an assistant to Earl Brown before being named head coach.

During his tenure, Simcoe led the Falcons to four District 9 Class A titles (1994, 2001, 2005, 2006). During the earlier years of his coaching, there was no district or state football playoff system.

Simcoe is also stepping down as a health and physical education and driv- er education teacher at Coudersport. Long-time assistant Tom Russell, defensive coordinator, and another veteran assistant, Dan Kightlinger Jr., are also leaving the staff.

Assistant coach Brendan Hathaway, who came aboard in 2006, will take over as head coach. Trevor Saulter will remain on as an assistant. Dan Counts, Mike Russell and John Gerhart will round out Hathaway's coaching staff.
