POTTER, CAMERON SUPPORT CLINTON

Both Potter and Cameron County Democrats gave Hillary Clinton a solid margin over Barack Obama in Tuesday's presidential primary. She won statewide, 55 percent to 45 percent.

By the time Pennsylvania's delegates to the Democratic National Convention were divided, Obama still held a lead over Clinton heading into the Indiana and North Carolina primaries.

Unofficial vote count in Potter County was 1,047 to 567 in favor of Clinton. Some 43 percent of the county's registered voters turned out on Tuesday.

Potter County Republicans didn't give Glenn Thompson Jr. much of a boost on his way to the party nomination to run for the 5th District congressional seat. Vote count in Potter was: Derek Walker, 708; Jeff Stroehmann, 553; Matt Shaner, 457, with five other candidates far behind.

Potter County Democrats supported the 5th District nominee, Mark McCracken, with 581 votes, followed by Richard Vilello Jr. with 430 and Bill Cahir with 361.

Forty percent of Cameron County's 3,406 registered voters cast ballots. Clinton beat Obama, 58 percent to 40 percent.
