A fire ring at a campsite in Moshannon State Park touched off a forest blaze that scorched more than 230 acres. Volunteers from Sinnemahoning, Moshannon, Jay Township, Clearfield, Karthaus, Sabula and Penfield were summoned to a fire that started in the area of Wilson Switch Road and moved northeast. Wind and dry conditions enabled flames to spread quickly. The investigation is continuing and charges may be filed. In the photo, Ashley Gibson of the Sinnemahoning Volunteer Fire Company provides support to the fire trucks when water is needed for the fire.
