Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department last week welcomed the delivery of a modern pumper that will improve the organization's firefighting capabilities.
A grant from the state was combined with available reserves to pay for the Crimson pumper, which was made to order after CVFD evaluated its needs.
The unit is built on an International four-wheel-drive crew cab chassis and has a pump capable of delivering 1,250 gallons per minute. It is equipped with a 15KW PTO generator and a light tower.
The truck is laid out as a rescue engine and will be used in conjunction with a rescue vehicle for motor vehicle collision calls.
It also has a hydraulic ladder rack and a remotely controlled deluge gun with wireless remote operation.
An extended front bumper holds a winch. The main bed will carry close to 1,200 feet of five-inch hosing.
The rear body has all roll-up doors with a large volume of storage space for fire and rescue equipment.
