CCHS softball team hangs close

Cameron County is hanging close in most of its high school softball games this season, but wins are hard to come by.

The Red Raiders fell to 1-6 Wednesday after a 10-3 loss to visiting Port Allegany. Tasha Smith, who had two of the hosts' four hits, kept things close until the Gators launched a rally in the sixth inning.

Cameron County got three hits from Karli McLaughlin and a two from Shelby Summers, but still fell to visiting Otto-Eldred Monday, 14-7.

Austin comes to Emporium on Tuesday, followed by a visit to Kane on Friday.
