Coudersport softball team looking ahead

Coudersport (8-3) is starting to look ahead to the PIAA District 9 playoffs as the high school softball season begins to wind down.

On Wednesday night, the Falcons (8-3) erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth on their way to a 10-2 win over Oswayo Valley. Kayla Bohn laced a two-run single to highlight the rally.

Tigan Chiumento added a two-RBI double and Melissa Gerner had a pair of hits. Karli Duffee struck out 12 and walked just one in pitching a complete game.

Duffee was coming off a one-hitter two nights earlier, striking out five and walking just one in the Falcons' 3-1 win at Otto-Eldred (4-7). Duffee also contributed offensively with two of the Falcons' six hits.

Last Saturday, Coudersport managed just two hits off Northern Potter pitcher Casey Martin in a 3-0 defeat. Duffee limited the Panthers to four hits, but was victimized by four errors.

Last Thursday, Coudersport outslugged Oswayo Valley in a wild affair at Shinglehouse, 19-11. Bohn smacked four hits and stole four bases. Gerner had three hits, including a double, while winning pitcher Megan Hau tripled and doubled. Brielle Whitman, who added a pair of hits, relieved Hau on the mound for the final two innings.

Coudersport returns to action on Friday at Port Allegany.
