Raider track team hits it stride Cameron County's boys (3- 0) have emerged as one of the area's top track and field teams. On Wednesday, Hunter Bardo, Taylor Songer and Andy Lippert each tripled in an 85- 55 win over visiting Oswayo Valley. Bardo was first in the 300- meter hurdles (46.31). Songer claimed the 100-meter dash (11.93). Lippert was first in the 200 (23.92). Each of them also ran on two winning relay teams. Oswayo Valley won the girls' meet, 97-41. Cameron County got firsts from Rachel Lippert (400, 1:13), Kristin Sestina (discus, 78-8) and Tara O' Neill (300 hurdles, 1:09.66). The Red Raider boys finished fifth among 25 teams at Saturday's Kane Invitational. Lippert took second in the 100 (11.27), third in the 200 (23.05) and teamed with Bardo, Charlie Holjencin and Songer to post a 45.93 in the 400 relay. That time was good enough for fourth place and qualified the quartet for a berth in the District 9 Meet. Songer also qualified for D9 with his 2:09.11 in the 800, placing second. Red Raider Matt Burke also qualified for the D9 meet with his shot put of 45 feet, 4 ½ inches, good enough for fourth place. Randy Schatz took third in the javelin with a distance of 165 feet, one inch. Bardo, Songer, Charlie Holjencin and Joe Holjencin were sixth in the 1600 relay (3:47.63). Cameron County heads to the Lock Haven University Invitational on Saturday, then travels to Otto-Eldred on Tuesday. |
