Military medical benefits

Area military veterans who served at least a decade ago may be eligible for five years of free medical care.

Department of Veterans Affairs announced a two-year extension of the plan. Eligible for the program are personnel who served before Nov. 11, 1998, including veterans of Iraq/Afghanistan, activated Reservists and members of the National Guard.

Dental benefits are also available.
