SKATE PARK DREAM LIVES ON
On Saturday, nine teenagers showed off their skateboard tricks and competed during a public event called "Skate- A-Palooza." It raised about $250 for the park project according to group president Susie Gribble, while lifting the project's public profile. Local businesses donated gifts that were presented as prizes to many of the performers. Skateboarders competed based on the amount of money they raised. First place went to Thaddeus Hornung, $50 and over. Other winners were Adam Barnett, $50 and under, and Jaycee Chemlar, $20 and under. In the performance categories, Hornung and Kyle Imboden tied for the best stunt, with Barnett as runner-up. "The kids had a good time," Gribble said. "It's important for us to keep up the interest in the skate park." She said the group is still looking for a location for the park and continuing to raise money.
