Elk season frame approved

Some 45 elk-hunting licenses will be sold for the 2008 season, to be held Nov. 3-8. The Game Commission this week approved the framework for the season.

Hunters will submit applications for licenses, of which 17 will be designated for antlered elk and 28 for antlerless elk. Applications soon will be accepted via mail, drop-off at agency offices and the Game Commission website. A public drawing will be held on Sept. 20.

All applications must be accompanied by a $10 fee. Online applications will be accepted beginning in mid-May.

Additionally, the Game Commission approved a technical change to refer to "elk hunt zones," consistent with the agency's elk management plan, rather than "elk management areas."
