ON A MISSION FOR AFRICA
Local men will travel across U.S. for African chairty

Bruce Trowbridge (right) and Timothy Haley will try to raise $1 million.
Two Potter County men will cross the U.S. this summer to raise money to drill water wells in Mali, Africa.

Bruce Trowbridge will make the voyage the hard way - by running and riding a bicycle. Timothy Haley will ride along in a van as Trowbridge's one-man support team.

The journey will begin in June from Oregon and end in Ocean City, N. J.

Trowbridge has set a lofty fund-raising goal: $1 million. He's affiliated with Provisions of Life, a Christian, non-profit public charity organization.

Millions of African children die each year from contaminated drinking water by contracting cholera, typhoid and infectious hepatitis. Health care is often unavailable. Lack of safe water also affects food production.

Trowbridge and Haley appeared in a booth on the courthouse square during last weekend's Potter-Tioga Maple Festival in Coudersport.

Donations can be made by visiting provisionsoflife.org or by calling (814) 260-9352.
