GRIMONE PLEADS GUILTY IN DEER-POACHING CASE An Emporium man who poached a deer last summer has been sentenced to two years' probation after a guilty plea in Cameron County Court. Matthew "Cash" Grimone, 19, admitted to four of the seven charges brought against him after he shot a large buck near Sizerville during the early morning hours of Aug. 26. He acknowledged shooting the deer twice with a .243 rifle from the hood of a pickup truck. Grimone and an accomplice were spotted looking for the injured animal and attempted to flee. Police apprehended Grimone after the pickup truck became stuck in a ditch. He pleaded guilty to possessing an instrument of crime, which carries a $300 fine; unlawful use of lights; possession, transportation, or consumption of alcoholic beverages; and unlawful hunting. As part of the terms of probation, Grimone must pay a monthly $30 supervision fee. |
