CCMH TO CELEBRATE HOSPITAL WEEK

Nurses at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport celebrated their profession last week, as part of National Nurses' Week. Bernie Knefley from the Coudersport Alliance Church invited staff to participate in the "Blessing of the Hands" on Tuesday. On Wednesday, nurses wore traditional white nursing uniforms and caps. "Celebration of Nursing" took place Thursday.
A host of health-related activities are lined up this week at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport and neighboring centers. It's part of National Hospital Week, themed "Where Healing Happens Every Day."

Wellness centers in Coudersport, Emporium, Smethport and Port Allegany will offer free use of aerobic and strength-training equipment throughout the week.

A free blood pressure check will be available from 10 am to noon on Tuesday morning at the wellness centers.

In Coudersport, Women's Health Center will offer free heel scans for osteoporosis. To make an appointment, call 274-5470.

A book fair will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on Tuesday and 7 am to 1 pm on Wednesday in Coudersport.

On Friday, the Hospital's Relay For Life Team "Charlie's Pride" will sponsor a jail, bail and bake sale. It'll be held at the Coudersport Hospital and the Irwin Medical Arts Center.

Hospital officials and others will be put into jail. They will be asking for donations to be released. A bake sale is also being planned for that day.

Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, which will be held on the hospital campus on June 27 and 28.
