Science fair winners

Some impressive exhibits were developed for showing and judging during the Coudersport Elementary School PTSA Science Fair.

In addition to the students' projects, there were displays about animals, drinking water safety and maple syruping.

Students from Mansfield University, under the guidance of Dr. John Kirby, judged the firstplace winners as follows:

• K-2, Plant Science and Botany, Sierra Nichols; Earth and Space Sciences, Logan Benson; Physics: John Fitzgerald; Animal Sciences and Zoology. Jarrett Cumby.

• Grades 3-4, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Jillian Furman; Earth and Space Sciences, Kevin Johnson; Family Consumer Science, Stephanie Fry; Physics, Heather Fitzgerald; Animal Sciences and Zoology, David Rigas.

• Grades 5-6, Plant Science and Botany, Branson Elliott; Chemistry, Joel Doyle; Family Consumer Science, Andrew Rigas and Derek Matzinger (tie); Microbiology, Jenna Gabreski; Physics, Gabe Trimbur.

Top prizes went to Jenna Gabreski, Best of Show, for "A Smelly Science Study"; and to Brandon Elliott, Most Original, for "Which Local Hardwood is Densest?"
