Lippert sets school record in 100M dash at Cameron Co. Sprinter Andy Lippert wrote his name in the school record book last week, as he blistered the track at Port Allegany in a time 11.08 seconds in the 100- meter dash. His burst of speed broke the previous mark of 11.1 held by Rich Bisso, which had stood since 1971. Lippert, a sophomore, also won the 200 (23.1) and the long jump (18-3), but the Red Raiders came out on the short end of an 81-69 score against Port Allegany. The win earned the Gators the Northern Tier League championship. Joe Holjencin won the 1,600-meter run (5:06.9) while helping the Red Raiders take first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays. Taylor Songer won the 800 (2:15.1) and ran in both of those relays. Other Raider winners were Matt Burke (shot put, 41-5) and Randy Schatz (javelin, 153-11; 3200 relay). In the girls' meet, Port Allegany beat the Raiders, 126-23. Cameron County got wins from Shalynn Schatz (shot out 29-8 1.2) and Brandy Schatz (discus, 80-9). On Tuesday, Songer had a big afternoon as the Raider boys topped Smethport 78-72 and Ridgway 114-15. He won the 100 (11.7), 800 (2:07.2) and ran on the winning 400 and 1600 relay teams. Lippert was first in the 200 (22.8), high jump (5-4) and ran in the 400 relay. Burke won discus (99) and shot put (43-11). Charlie Holjencin was first in the 400 (54.1). He and Hunter Bardo were on both winning relay teams. Vicky Lippert won the 3200 in the girls' meet, as Smethport beat the Raiders, 97-40, while Ridgway topped Cameron County, 75-63. The Red Raider quartet of Alexis Ramsey, Amanda Harris, Brittany Nellis and Tess Reynolds was first in the 3200 relay (14:24.6). |
