District track, field meet on horizon

Coudersport sends several of its athletes to next Friday's PIAA District 9 Track and Field Meet with hopes of earning berths in the state finals.
Sophomore twins Emily and Allison Giannotti are running wild as they tune up for districts.
On Tuesday, Emily swept the 1600 (5:27.1) and 3200 (11:56.8). Allison won the 800 (2:56.3). They were both on the winning 1600 (5:00.6) and 3200 (13:04) relay teams as Coudersport won at Otto- Eldred, 89-57).
Sprinter Jordan Bright swept the 100 (14.1) and 200 (30.3) while hooking up with Jessica Wilson, Kaitlin Karpinski and Stephanie Kelley to take the 400 relay (59.7). Wilson was also first in the javelin (90-4).
Kristy Kamper was first in the 400 (1:10.4) and high jump (4-6), while running in the 1600 relay.
Coudersport's boys kept things close but fell to the Terrors, 76-72.
Tim Thomas swept the 200 (25.0) and 400 (56.4). Kyle Franklin was first in the 800 (2:26.5) and ran on two winning relay teams.
Last week, Coudersport's girls won the Potter County Meet. Bright (200, long jump) and Emily Giannotti (1,600 and 3,200) each won two events as the Falcons scored 77 points, while Oswayo Valley tallied 52 and host Northern Potter had 50.
Nate Minor won the javelin (156, 4 1.2), Thomas took the 100 (12.3), but the Falcon boys placed second with 53 points. Northern Potter scored 80. Oswayo Valley trailed with 48. Minor, Franklin, Joe Bartholomew, and Justen Kinder won the 1600 relay with a time of 3:55.5.
