100th Mason-Grugan reunion

Plans are now in place for the 100th annual Mason-Grugan Reunion, to be held on Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Reunion Grounds on Mason Hill near Sterling Run in Cameron County.

Family members trace their roots to Joseph Mason, who was born in Philadelphia in 1775, and Margaret Grugan, born in Buffalo Valley, near Lewisburg, in 1784.

They married and settled at Pine Street, now Sterling Run.

Joseph Mason was a clerk and timekeeper for the Elliott brothers, land agents for the Holland Company. Later, he became a surveyor. The Masons raised 10 children.

Family members held their first reunion in 1908 and has been perpetuated by

generations since.
