Area Police Beat

Drunk driver flees

A Potter County man is facing numerous charges after leading state police on a highspeed chase last week.

According to troopers, 40- year-old Sean R. Easton of Genesee was clocked at 73 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone. When they attempted to stop him, police said, Easton accelerated while heading south on Rt. 449.

He was traveling upwards of 110 mph at one point. Eventually, Easton turned into a private driveway along Rt. 449, where he was apprehended.

He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and several other offenses.

Reward offered

A victim of a burglary last week in Pleasant Valley Township, near Roulette, is offering a cash reward of $200 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

Thieves entered the home of Robin Taylor on Sartwell Creek Road between 11 am and 3 pm Wednesday and removed a TV, PlayStation system and video games valued at more than $900.

The incident remains under investigation by state police from the Denton Hill barracks.

PennDOT robbed

Investigation continues into the theft of a pole saw and a portable space heater from the Pa. Dept. of Transportation district office in Coudersport.

The missing items are valued at abolut $500. State police from Denton Hill are investigating.

Facing assault charges

Three teenagers from Allegany County, N.Y., have been charged with assaulting a woman in Genesee Township last Wednesday.

State police say the trio, all from Wellsville, traveled to the Potter County residence of Ashley Aldrich, where at least one of the teens assaulted her.

Police refused to release the offenders' names because of their ages.

Chain saws stolen

A northern Potter County business was burglarized last weekend.

State police from Denton Hill said that, sometime between 5 pm Friday and 7 am Saturday, thieves forced their way into Mahaley's Track Repair on Route 49 in Allegany Township.

They stole three Stihl chain saws and a Stihl blower model BG-85, with a total value of about $1,800.

Medicine stolen

Two more cases of stolen pharmaceuticals are under investigation by police.

Someone broke into the home of Travis Marsh on the North Hollow Road in Sweden Township between 10:30 Friday

night and 1:30 Saturday morning and made off with a prescription medication.

Meanwhile, someone stole a quantity of prescribed hydrocodone tablets belonging to Angela Auman from her car while it was parked in a private driveway in Oswayo between 10:30 am and 5:15 pm Friday.

State police from the Denton Hill barracks continue their investigation.

Gravel stolen

A local excavator had some 45 tons of gravel removed from a location at Mix Run Road in Gibson Township, Cameron County, sometime last Friday and Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Gary Wolfe of Lock Haven. State police from the Emporium barracks are investigating.

Shed burglarized

State police at Emporium report that someone broke into a shed located on Mason Hill Road in Cameron County between May 1 and May 3.

It is not known if anything was taken from the structure owned by Donald Barto of Baden.

Harassment charge

An Emporium woman faces harassment charges following an incident on Tuesday.

Police allege that Tanya Mc- Curley physically assaulted an Emporium man at Hunts Run Road in Lumber Township.

Equipment stolen

State police at Denton Hill report a theft from a motor vehicle taking place last week along the Nelson Run Road in Allegany Township.

Thieves made off with a welder battery and two commercial batteries belonging to Joyce Nelson, as well as a truck rim, radiator, catalytic converter and stereo equipment belonging to Clayton Nelson.
