'GAS RUSH' PROGRAM SLATED

With residents across the state asking questions about the Marcellus Shale formation, natural gas exploration, mineral rights leasing and related issues, WPSU-TV is airing a one-hour live call-in program at 7 pm Thursday.

It's entitled "Pennsylvania's Gas Rush" and will be simulcast on Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) and the WPSU website, wpsu.org.

The program will offer advice about the drilling and exploration development on leased land, negotiating with gas companies, signing leases and creating addenda. It will also spotlight the financial, environmental and infrastructure impacts.

Panelists include a lawyer specializing in mineral right leases, a gas industry official and representatives of the Pa. Dept. of Environmental Protection and Penn State Cooperative Extension.

Topics covered will include legal issues and ramifications for landowners, the drilling and exploration process, water quality and environmental impact.
