State EMS director position being proposed A bill has surfaced in the state legislature to create the Office of the State Director of Emergency Medical Services. If approved by the legislature and signed by the governor, the bill would establish the division as part of the Pa. Dept. of Health. Assemblyman Martin Causer of McKean County is the bill's primary sponsor and has been urging his colleagues to support HB2444. "The current EMS office is buried in bureaucracy, holding us back from making enhancements to our system," Causer said. The new division would be patterned after the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. HB2444 is before the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee. |
