Drum & Henry derby to mark 54 years June 1 Plans are in place for the annual Drum and Henry Fishing Derby, to be held on Sunday, June 1, at the Bucktail Rod and Gun Club. It's a success story that dates back more than a half-century. Funds come through donations from local businesses, as well as a gift from the Emporium Foundation. Committee members welcome fi- nancial contributions to cover the purchase of trout, supplies and prizes. The 54th annual derby will run from 1 pm until 4 pm and is open to anyone 14 or under. Each child who registers will receive a free hot dog and soft drinks. Organizers report that the pond is closed to adults through Sunday, June 15, so that anyone 14 and under can continue to fish. Each child will be allowed to catch three trout. The use of artificial lures is prohibited; bait fishing only will be allowed. No alcohol or pets will be permitted on club grounds. |
