Mitch DeLong described the many aspects of the Potter County "Food Matrix" during a program at the Austin United Methodist Church this week. It's a combination of initiatives that encourage consumers to buy locally produced food through Farmers Market booths in Coudersport and Galeton, a subscription service called Community-Sustained Agriculture, and other initiatives. With an influx of Amish families in the county's northern section and increased awareness of healthy eating and local agriculture, DeLong said he sees a bright future for locally produced food and he encouraged consumers to buy from area farmers.
