Raiders, Falcons on collision course?
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Abram Zoschg
Local high school baseball rivals Cameron County and Coudersport may be headed for yet another high-stakes showdown next Thursday.

Coach Dick Harrier's Red Raiders punched their ticket to the PIAA District 9 semifinals with an impressive 6-1 win over visiting Clarion-Limestone Thursday afternoon in Emporium.

Seniors Cameron Clingan and Jordan Crane were double trouble for the Lions on a cool afternoon.

Clingan smashed a three-run homer and limited the visitors to one run in a four-inning pitching stint.

Down 3-1 in the top of the fourth, C-L put two runners on base before Clingan got an infield pop-up, strikeout and weak grounder to snuff the threat.

In the last of the fourth, Corey Reed singled, Darrick Mason doubled and Crane delivered a three-run blast way over the left field fence.

Then Crane took the mound and blanked Clarion-Limestone over the final three innings.

Cameron County (15-2) returns to action Tuesday on a neutral field against the winner of the quarterfinal game between Johnsonburg and Kane.

That winner plays in the district championship game on Thursday.

Coudersport's home game against Keystone, originally scheduled for Thursday, was postponed by wet grounds and was played at 4 pm Friday.

The winner (not yet decided at presstime) progresses to the semifinals on Tuesday against either Ridgway or Curwensville. That winner plays for the D9 title on Thursday.
