Falcons bow in softball playoffs Coudersport bowed from the PIAA District 9 softball playoffs with a 5-2 defeat at the hands of visiting Keystone High School in Tuesday's quarterfinal round. "We had a good season," said Falcon coach Scott Andrews. "One of the real highlights was to beat a very tough team in Smethport, so I think the softball program took some big strides this season." The Falcons, who closed at 13-6 overall, opened an early 2-0 lead over Keystone before Panther pitcher Jenny Barrett settled down. Kayla Bohn and Karli Duffee boarded on singles, moved up on a double steal and scored on a catcher's error. Some defensive lapses allowed Keystone to plate four runs in the top of the third. Another unearned run in the sixth provided more insurance. Duffee limited the Panthers to four hits and two walks, while striking out 10. |
