Transportation plan released

Copies of the region's Transportation Improvement Plan are available for public review at county offices in Emporium and Coudersport.

Township and borough officials could be particularly interested in the plan, which has been prepared through input from a committee with representatives from all of the affected counties.

The plan ranks highway and bridge projects for funding during 2009-12 and is open to a 30-day public comment period. As always, there is much more demand for road and bridge work than federal and state funding sources can support.

The plan can be reviewed, and comment left, at the courthouse and the planning office in each county. It's also posted on the internet at web2.ncentral. com/transportation.

Adoption of the plan is scheduled for 11 am Tuesday, June 17, at the Northcentral Pa. Regional Planning and Development Commission office in Ridgway. That meeting is open to the public.
