Charged with bribery A Potter County man is being investigated by state police from the Denton Hill barracks for his role in a woman's death in early April. While that probe continues, troopers have filed attempted bribery charges against the suspect, James Gelzenlichter, 55, of Cross Fork. Autopsy reports on the body of 50-year-old Patricia Blouse could aid in the investigation. A preliminary analysis suggests she died of hypothermia. Blouse's body was found in Cross Fork Creek by emergency services personnel who were summoned by Gelzenlichter. Witnesses report the two were ATV riding and engaged in an altercation on the night of her death. Alcohol was a likely contributing factor, according to police. The attempted bribery charge stems from Gelzenlichter's offer of $5,000 in cash and a $5,000 check to a state police corporal. Whether the defendant intended the money to be a bribe, or as a deposit for his bail, may have to be sorted out by a jury. Gelzenlichter was arraigned on the attempted bribery charge by District Judge Delores Bristol and released after posting $10,000 bail. He has retained the services of Coudersport defense attorney Jarret Smith. |
