      Congratulations to my husband, Ron Horning, who will be retiring on June 6 after 35 years of teaching. He began his teaching career in 1972 at the Carver Middle School in Chesterfield, Va., where he taught and coached for nine years.

Mullens honored
      Dustin Mullens of Emporium, has been named to the President's List for the spring semester at Coastal Carolina University. A full-time student must obtain a 4.0 average to be eligible for the honor. Dustin is a 2006 graduate of Cameron County High School. He's the son of Scott and Brenda Mullens.
