Busy weekend at Sinnemahoning Park A wide range of events are on tap this weekend at Sinnemahoning State Park in Cameron and Potter counties. There will be a hike to search for and identity salamanders on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 2. Participants should meet at the campground amphitheater. A park naturalist will share some facts about the small amphibian. Boots or water shoes should be worn. A paddle boat ride on the George B. Stevenson impoundment is being planned for 5 to 6 pm Saturday. Riders should meet at the boat launch area. Excursion will allow boaters see examine plant and animal species, as well as the park's resident bald eagles nest. Basic canoe and water safety instruction will be taught before the ride. Canoes, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. Cost is $8 per person or $20 per family. Space is limited. Temporary wetlands will be the topic from 8:30 to 9:30 pm Saturday at the campground amphitheater. A park naturalist will share tips on how to preserve ponds that provide habitats for many unique plants and animals. Pontoon boat excursions will be available on Sunday. The 45-minute tour explores the George B. Stevenson reservoir, wetlands and wildlife, including bald eagles. There are three different times to ride: noon, 1:30 pm and 3 pm. Participants should be at boat launch area five minutes before departure. Reservations can be made by calling 647-8401.
