58 pints donated

Blood donors from in and around Cameron County came through for the American Red Cross last week during a bloodmobile stop in Emporium.

Some 58 pints of blood were collected, exceeding the blood drive's quota.

Special recognition was paid to 90-year-old Gladys Miller for her incredible record of giving, totaling 26 gallons and one pint (see story page one).

Also honored were Regina Caton, 18 gallons; Rick McLean, 15; Arnold Hayes, 13; Kirk Bainey, nine; Brenda Williams, six; David Thompson, five; George Yahnite, four; and Thomas Spolski, two. Tabatha Haupt and Rick Purcell were first-time donors.
