Activities at Sinnemahoning

Activities are on tap this weekend at Sinnemahoning State Park in Cameron and Potter counties.

A "knee-high naturalist" program will spotlight wildlife with a hike and craft activity on Saturday from 3 to 4 pm, starting at the campground amphitheater.

On Sunday, owls will be the central topic at the Wildlife Viewing Area gazebo. It runs from noon until 4 pm. A park naturalist will lead participants on a short hike along the northernmost section of the Lowlands Trail to listen for distinctive calls.

Pontoon boat excursions will be held Sunday. The 45-minute tour explores the George B Stevenson Dam, wetlands and wildlife, especially bald eagles. There are three different times to ride: noon, 1:30 pm and 3 pm.

Participants should be at boat launch area five minutes before departure. Eighteen seats are available and reservations can be made by calling 647-8401. Sign-ups are also being taken at the park office until noon and at the boat launching area.
