Man pleads guilty to sexual assault

A Potter County man who pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges will spend at least eight years in state prison.

Sean Scharlau, 23, who listed addresses as Coudersport and Roulette, entered guilty pleas to seven charges stemming from incidents involving two children, ages five and eight, in April 2007 and was sentenced earlier this year.

Most recently, he received a separate prison sentence for making false reports to police and for simple assault.

In a separate case, a Tioga County defendant is bound for state prison in a case dating back to 2003.

Shawn M. Crowner, 34, of Mansfield pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges involving a 12-year-old Potter County girl.
