Alle-Catt teams struggling Emporium and Austin have each hit a rocky road in the Alle-Catt Amateur Baseball League. There's still time for both teams to right the ship before postseason playoff time. Perennial powerhouse Emporium fell to 4-3 on Sunday with an 8-4 loss to the resurgent Olean AOH team. Timely hitting was the key for Olean, which clouted three roundtrippers off Emporium pitchers Ryan Bresslin and Jordan Crane. Garrett Hornung had three hits, including a double, while Rick Uber homered and Ken Meyer had two singles for the losers. Austin (4-4) met up with a strong Shinglehouse team on Sunday and fell, 9-1, as winning pitcher Jame Thomas scattered seven hits and struck out six. Kyle Dynda handled mound duties for Austin. Austin was coming off a 10-7 win over the Cuba (N.Y.) Rebels on Saturday. In Alle-Catt action this Sunday, Emporium has a home game with Cuba, while Austin meets Port Allegany at the Roulette field; both games start at 2 pm. Next Saturday, Emporium will travel to Austin. |
