FUGITIVE NABBED
US Marshals nab convicted sex offender in Emporium

United States Marshals swept through Cameron County recently and nabbed a sex offender who was a fugitive from justice.

Lawrence Stadden IV, 23, from Baltimore, Md., was taken into custody on Thursday, June 12, in Emporium.

Bystanders told Endeavor

News that they saw federal marshals storm a Sixth Street home. The defendant was apparently apprehended during a traffic stop.

Lancaster County Sheriff's Office put out a call for Stadden's arrest for violating parole in early May. He had been convicted of statutory sexual assault of a minor in August 2005.

Emporium Borough Police Chief Rufus Jones pointed out that it's not uncommon for federal agents to make routine stops in the area as they hunt for fugitives who often choose rural towns in which to hide.

The sweep was among those undertaken by the Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally (FALCON) team, which has snared 181 fugitives and cleared 228 warrants.

"This operation continues to display that law enforcement officers from all levels can work effectively as a collective team in getting some of the 'worst of the worst' off our streets," said United States Marshal Michael R. Regan.
