Relay for Life: New Location, Same Cause

Todd Husson, a physician assistant at Charles Cole Hospital, was named "Miss Relay" by defending champion Glenn "Glenda" Wolf. Husson received the most donations (votes), which are being presented to the American Cancer Society this weekend during its Potter County Relay for Life at the recreation field next to the hospital.
At least a dozen teams and numerous individuals will take up the fight against cancer Friday and Saturday during the 15th annual Potter County Relay for Life.

The American Cancer Society fund-raiser has been shifted to a new location - Strawberry Field, next to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital - due to construction work at CARP Field.

It was slated to begin at 3 pm Friday (June 27) and continue for 24 hours. Many of the participants and supporters will remain at the Relay for Life for the entire event.

A survivors' walk at 7 and the traditional memorial luminaria service at 9 were to be the Friday night highlights.

On Saturday, children's activities are scheduled from 10 am to noon.

Final lap of the Relay takes place Saturday afternoon at 2:30, with a closing ceremony set for 2:45.

An ambitious goal of $76,000 has been established. Some of the teams are well on their way to meeting their personal goals as the result of previous fund-raisers.
