'Snowmobiles across pond' Saturday

Snowmobilers will try to skip their sleds across the surface of a long pond on Denton Hill Saturday, competing for cash prizes in the "Fastest Snowmobile Across the Pond" event.

It will be held at the Mountain Valley Motorsports pond, across Rt. 6 from Potato City County Inn.

Registration is at 1 pm, with racing to follow. Spectator fee is $3.00.

Snowmobilers can enter for a $25 fee. Prizes will be paid to the sledders who cover the course in the fastest times. Organizer Neal Klimek said he'll donate a portion of the proceeds to a fund for disabled veterans.
