POTTER COUNTY OFFICE MIGRATION CONTINUES
TREASURER'S OFFICE MOVES TO FORMER SCHOOL

Treasurer Krista Miller sells a hunting license to Tim Ward of Chambersburg on Tuesday. Miller said the transition to the Gunzburger Building has been "fairly smooth," with hunting licenses and dog licenses available. There was a delay, however, in the ability to issue fishing licenses. Another Potter County office has settled into the Gunzburger Building, a former school and corporate office complex in downtown Coudersport.

County Treasurer Krista Miller relocated her office from the courthouse over the weekend and opened for business on Monday morning.

Following in her footsteps later this month will be the office of Potter County Commissioners Doug Morley, Susan Kefover and Paul Heimel along with the county's Fiscal Department.

Also moving from the courthouse in the near future will be Sheriff Ken Sauley and staff, the Voter Registration/Election office headed by Sandy Lewis, and the Assessment Office/Tax Claim Bureau, under director Joe Lewis.

The commissioners plan to keep the Court of Common Pleas and the office of Prothonotary/ Clerk of Courts in the courthouse.

LaBella Associates was hired earlier this year to perform a space needs assessment and planning study of the Gunzburger Building.

That property was donated to Potter County by Time Warner Cable last year, after that company decided to unload its Coudersport assets, acquired when it purchased a portion of Adelphia Communications Corp. in 2006.

The previous Board of Potter County Commissioners, comprised of Ken Wingo, John Torok and Catherine Bowers, had planned to build a county annex on the former Potter County Texaco property at North East and East Second streets before Time Warner decided to donate the Gunzburger Building to the county.
