Galeton man publishes book
Potter County Historical Society hosted a reception and book signing for Ronald Dingle, a Galeton area resident who recently published a photograph book spotlighting area history. Dingle's paperback contains more than 200 post card reproductions with historical references and is appropriately named, "Around Galeton and Coudersport." He is donating a portion of sales proceeds to the Historical Society. Many of the scenes depicted in the book date back to the region's lumber era, from the late 19th century through 1915. A former Milton resident, Dingle has been a frequent visitor to Potter County since early adulthood and moved to West Branch Township after retiring. "My hope is that this book will kindle some memories among the older population and create more interest in history among our younger generation," Dingle said.
