Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Day

The famous Sentinel Sequoia Tree at Calaveras Big Trees State Park in California was the setting as Kate Thelma Metzger and Jonathan William Day exchanged wedding vows on June 21, 2009.

She is the daughter of Arthur and Jane Heimel Metzger of Crandall Hill, Potter County, and the granddaughter of Barbara Fish Heimel of Coudersport and Wanda Gooch Metzger of Lemoyne.

Mr. Day is the son of Timothy and Lorraine Day of Appleton, Wisc.

The couple met at the University of Oregon, where both completed their masters degree in the geography department. They are each employed by the U.S. Forest Service in California and will make their home at Sonora, Calif.

Jon and Kate will celebrate their marriage with family and friends during a reception at the Arthur and Jane Metzger residence on Aug. 16.
