'General Meade' this Friday
A respected author and educator will portray a famed Civil War commander on Friday at Potter County Historical Society's quarterly meeting.
Temple University language professor Dr. Anthony Waskie will discuss General George Meade's background at 7:30 pm at the museum on North Main Street in Coudersport. His appearance is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council.
Waskie was instrumental in establishing the General Meade Society of Philadelphia. Meade is well-known for his role in defeating the Confederate army at the Battle of Gettysburg.
Waskie is a consultant for historical films, television shows, books and museum projects. He served in the State Department and supports many historical organizations, including the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and Civil War Roundtables.
