Austin, Coudersport and Galeton school districts each received a $10,000 grant from the Highmark Foundation to support the Family Fitness Challenge. It's a 10-week fitness and nutrition program. Charles Cole Memorial Hospital's Childhood Obesity Task Force, which includes pediatricians, dieticians and an exercise specialist, teamed with the schools to launch the program, which addresses nutrition, physical activity, self esteem, grieving, and bullying prevention. J. Richard Wilcox, 77, of Coudersport, died Saturday (Jan. 10, 2009) at his home. A retired educator, Mr. Wilcox was a respected band and choral director at Coudersport Area High School for many years.
