CAMERON GETS FOOD, SHELTER GRANT
Cameron County has been awarded $13,315 from the federal government under the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
A board made up of the County Assistance Office, Salvation Army, Red Cross, County Commissioners, Food Banks, Northern Tier Community Action Corp., and United Way will determine how the funds are distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.
Cameron County has distributed the funds previously with the Cameron County Food Pantry, Catholic Charities, and Northern Tier Community Action Corp. participating. These agencies were responsible for providing 1,414 meals, seven rental assistance grants, and seven utility assistance grants during the previous program year.
Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for funds must contact Ken Straub at 486-1161 no later than March 16.
