Six Coudersport High School students were guests at Coudersport Rotary's March 23 meeting, speaking on improvements which would fulfill principles of Rotary's Four-Way Test. Neurologist and stroke specialist James DeMatteis, M.D., has joined the medical staff at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. More ... Cameron County School District Board of Directors is considering replacement of the lights at the school's football field. Musco Sports Lighting pitched the board on its proposal to replace the lights at a cost of about $200,000. The current 80 fixtures on wooden poles would be replaced by about 25 fixtures mounted on four steel structures. More ... Students from Austin High School competed in the Seneca Highlands Regional High School Computer Fair in Smethport. Taking first place in the multimedia category were Chelsea Plant and Chelsey Ray. They'll compete in the state competition to be held at Dickinson College in Carlisle, on May 19. Other Austin placewinners were Emily Wambaugh, second in text base desktop publishing; Andiana Ramadhan and Emily Purdy, second in digital movie; and Caleb Nichols and Billy Ripple, honorable mention in programming.
