Brooks honored for 25 years of service
      Potter County Dept. of Emergency Services staff recently recognized Kathy Brooks with a gift in honor of 25 years of dedication to public safety. Enormous changes have taken place in the department during those two-and-a-half decades. The staff has grown from two people - Kathy as administrative assistant and John Hetrick as director - to five.

Several DUI cases come to Potter County Court
      A Potter County man will be sentenced on May 6 after a guilty plea to two separate counts of driving under the influence of alcohol last year. Jeffrey Goodliff, 43, of Shinglehouse was apprehended on June 14 by Shinglehouse Borough Police, and on Sept. 14 by state police from the Denton Hill barracks.

Help needed; meeting April 22
      One of the Coudersport area's biggest success stories is the Arboretum, a peaceful and nature-based park located in the same area as the former Coudersport and Port Allegany Railroad depot.

District Attorney's office, others set to move
      Relocation of departments from the courthouse and satellite locations in Coudersport to the F. W. Gunzburger County Office Building on the corner of Main and Water streets continues, according to the Potter County Commissioners.

New Veterans Affairs Directors on the job
      Leonard "Lenny" Kalkbrenner Jr. of Genesee has assumed responsibilities as Potter County Director of Veterans Affairs. He is a U.S. Army veteran with more than 20 years of service, including tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea, and he served for many years as a military recruiter and recruitment supervisor.

Students celebrate life during annual concert
      Another successful Celebration of Life was held Saturday at Northern Potter High School auditorium. About 200 young people from throughout Potter County attended the event, also known as "Teen Tinnitus," to hear music and inspirational messages.

County's gone green
      Potter County employees have begun recycling much of their trash, according to county officials. Employees use a separate "mixed recycling" bin to deposit paper, plastic, aluminum, glass, cardboard, newspapers, magazines, catalogs, metal cans and more.
