The Cameron County Courthouse was closed off and county employees sent home Thursday afternoon when a suspicious chemical was discovered in the courthouse. Several emergency services units responded to the event, treating it like a hazardous material incident. Mr. and Mrs. John F. Fowler were treated to dinner by their family April 24 at Sprague's Maple Farms Restaurant in Portville N.Y. in honor of their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Fowler and the former Alma Mahon were united in marriage by the Rev. Gorden Loomis at Coudersport Methodist Parsonage. The Fowlers are the parents of John A. Fowler of Austin, Victor L. Fowler of Port Allegany, Pamela R. Glover of Costello, Kathryn J. Dow of York, Pa. and Jeffery B. Fowler of Costello. They have 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mr. Fowler was a mechanic and worked in construction for many years. For 22 years until retiring, he worked for the Pa. Department of Transportation in Coudersport as a diesel mechanic and as equipment manager. Now in their retirement years, they enjoy gardening, reading and quality time with their family. More...

Robert Ramsey Robert C. "Peanut" Ramsey, 56, of Ulysses, formerly of Coudersport, died May 18, 2009, at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ramsey was a 1971 graduate of Coudersport High School, where he excelled in basketball. His popularity in high school continued throughout his adult life.
